An article in the authoritative Industrial Diamond Review in May 1986 refers to the first, completely successful experiment of the use of diamond wire for quarrying large blocks by Cava Favalle Snc in its Crevoladossola quarry.

Today the technique is widely used throughout the quarrying industry, and has been of great benefit in reducing accidents and limiting the use of explosives. The diamond wire technique also helps to protect the environment, as it allows more precise cutting even of large blocks of stone from the hillside and produces less waste material.
